Description: This common perennial grows from horizontal, underground roots, periodically sending up new shoots. The narrow, smooth margined, leaves clasp the stem, and narrow to a sharp point. The central vein is very prominently visible on the top of the leaves. The alternate leaves are 5-12 cm long, and woolly on the underside. The flowers are arranged in a terminal cluster, with each flower at the end of a short branch. The yellow disk-like centre is surrounded by numerous pearly-white bracts, which gives the flower its white colour.
